While the adults are off getting married, working the room, posing for pics and getting sozzled at your wedding, it’s easy to forget that children need plenty of entertaining too!
Well, here to help you plan your big day is Pinata Pinata London, who have some fun ideas to make your big day special for your smallest wedding guests.
Read them below then meet Pinata Pinata at our upcoming BoShow wedding festival event!
1. Make a Kids Only Table
For meal time, prepare a kids-only table decorated with surprises and fun stuff. Children love feeling special and having a table set up just for them is one very easy way to do it (while also being very practical for you on the day)!
You can add more fun by creating a special children’s menu, or by decorating the table with crayons, paper and stickers instead of adult-y flowers and candles – so they can be creative and entertained while the older guests enjoy their 5 course meal and grown up centerpieces.
2. Crafty Corner
Weddings are long events, which often go on long into the evening. Since children can get tired of dancefloors pretty quickly, why not have an alternative space set up for them to keep entertained – like an arts and crafts area, where they can get creative.
The special area should be supervised by one or two adults, ideally those who will interact with them or teach them how to make something. Easy, on-theme examples include a paper flower crown for the bride, or an origami plane or car for the groom. They’ll be occupied, up for the challenge and feel involved with all that’s going on.
3. Daytime Dinner Ideas
A cooking class with a fun, child-friendly chef is a great idea for large weddings where a group of tots need entertaining for a few hours.
A mini masterclass showing them how to make pizza, cupcakes or cookies is an easy but hands-on activity little ones will enjoy – but this is also a great plan for older kids, who will enjoy the chance to show off their cooking skills!
Once finished, the children could also offer their creations to guests to try, which is a great way to have the children interacting with the other guests and feeling part of the event.
4. Add Magic
Traditional entertainment ideas include having a face painter, balloon-maker or a magician on site to entertain your guests. But these are great plans of action, as adding a bit of magic to the day is something most kids love and will remember about the event.
5. Outdoor Escapades
If you have a large, safe outdoor space to work with, why not create a treasure hunt, supervised by an adult? Children love find and seek games, and one with prizes will go down a treat.
To make it more fun and also engage with other guests, give them a set of clues that involve the bride and groom, and their families. It can be a super fun game for the entire wedding party!
6. Make a Den
Consider having a kids-only tipi. Not only do they look fabulous but they really work – because kids love to have a fun spot where adults are not allowed.
Decorate it with pillows, board games and easy craft items like colouring books… The children will entertain themselves by enjoying their very own space.
7. The Pièce De Résistance
Of course, including a piñata to play with is a great idea for all guests – big and small.
EVERYBODY loves a piñata full of hidden surprises, and watching one getting beaten is equally as entertaining as having a go at breaking one yourself!
